Sure. If you were close enough to her to need to ask, I would send something as long as it is not your intention to make her feel bad for not inviting you. Furthermore, it seems as if you have already decided it is the right thing to do, but don't forget to keep your son's feelings in mind.

In my experience, every woman is different. The easiest answer is...ask her. "What can I do?", and "What do you need?" are good starts usually, but most of the time they just want someone to listen. Depending on your relationship (whether it is romantic or otherwise), physical comfort may be in order, but some women won't want to be touched. Some don't even want to be listened to. Unfortunately the only way to find out conclusively is to ask.

That's a pretty good question and usually the type I like to get; however, some of my programsx are acting up. The Via Dolorosa has a tour that is completed in a single day with 14 stations along the way including the two gates you mentioned. Given this information, I would usually use Google Earth (which is free software) to get the distance. Mine, however, is in a folder that will not open right now. If I can get it working in the next few, I will let you know. If not, you can easily do it yourself. It's pretty user-friendly.

What kind of help and what model?

Legally: Itunes or one of the other music "stores" online. If you will be listening a lot on your computer, you can go to pandora.com and type in an artist you like and it will create a radio station just for you.
