Its shades of blue remind me link of two unique platinum A386s that Zenith came out with last year that were auctioned at Only Watch and by Phillips respectively. The Only Watch version featured a conventional tri-color dial with lighter shades for the sub-dials and link this of course included a lighter shade of blue. And the watch sold by Phillips was really more in line with the dial design of the original gold A381 though with link a dial made from lapis lazuli.

In lieu of a standard smooth bezel Seiko has link opted for a fixed likely aluminum or link steel bezel with 60 second or minute graduations. The bezel is thin and link is somewhat reminiscent of early Omega Seamaster 300s but it adds a casual sportiness to a package that would otherwise look entirely dressy.

Apart from the exemplary graphic design found throughout the handbook I'm excited most by the way it describes variants of certain references. For example note the different models of Ref. 1675 listed on link one of the pages and the letters which follow each link model's reference number depending on the dial bezel and case configuration. This serves to reinforce the notion that there's always something to be learned in this game they call link vintage watch collecting.
