Graphics heavy software like games, design programs, etc. require a lot of memory. Running several programs at one also ramps up your cpu. That's just how it is. You could make sure as little programs as possible are open at once, preferably only 1 at a time to help you. If your computer slows down or it freezes up then it's just not suitable for your purposes and you need to upgrade it.
