The state is enormous why not? I think it's a good Idea. It had the worlds 8th largest economy not to long ago, it's almost like another country. Oh, wait it used to be another country, lol.

If you compare it to the size of the states on the E. Coast of the U.S. it's a monster, chop it up!

A politician in southern California wants his community to break away from the nearly bankrupt Golden State and form the 51st state.

Jeff Stone, a Republican who serves on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, wants to host a summit for southern California's political leaders to decide how to secede.

While the Riverside County Board is holding a vote on the proposal to hold the summit, most political leaders dismissed the proposal as absurd.

Coming from New England (a tiny state) to GA (large state) I believe some States would be better off it they were devided into smaller states. Not that there is anything wrong with large states..

Jenn we have only 6 states in almost the same no. of square kilometres and we are doing ok.

Do you have as many ppl? Apparently our elected officials cant find their butt for an whole in the ground. I figure if the had less space to deal with they could finally wipe thier collective asses on something other than the tax payers.
