I think we must get our own planet under control. The concept with space should be deemed at another time.

The money spent is really insignificant compared to the budget. But I agree that money could be better spent at a time like this.

It satisfies our question of how, what, or why. It's natural for humans to explore out of our thirst for knowledge and our strong curiosity. It helps up with new and better technologies, experiments and breakthroughs can be accomplished by this type of exploration.

There is going to be a new race to space between China, Russia, and whomever else, to put a future base on the moon, so it's somewhat of a race for power I suppose. There are many benefits that come from exploration, there will be future mining of asteroids for precious metals and gems. So by being a leader in the field of space exploration will bring wealth and recognition to who ever conquers it. And like bulletman said we may find eggies, relatives. Lol.
