There are two pretenders to the French throne, Louis de Bourbon, 36,Duke of Anjou, and Henri d'Orleans Count of Paris and Duke of France, 77.
The French are fascinated with royalty and their TV coverage of the recent weddind was excellent. Magazines feature Royals and the death of Diana was felt deeply by the French.
A poll in 2007 found that 17% favoured having a king as head of state, 20% would vote for a royalist candidate and 24% thought that a king would be good for France's image.
