    TU = +15 karma

    Thank Author = +15 karma(unless you gave a TU first then +0)

    So, you can give a TU for a good answer AND a Thank Author but the person will only get +15 karma.

    Anytime +15 gets applied by a TU or a Thank Author, it counts as a +1 rating.

    why is it somtimes you get an occasional +50 karma

    I think those are the times they try to adjust the karma points. They continuously try to find ways to help the people who do not have a fan base here.
