my son found a baby bird today in his club house and has been feeding it worms and made it a nesting place with some bedding from his chickens. Is that the right thing to do? And if so what else do we need to be doing to prevent it fom dieing?

First, you need to know what kind of bird it is to know that worms are good for it. Make sure you mash the worms if it is a worm/insect eater. A live worm can wriggle around in the throat and suffocate the bird. Best bet, get a bird hand feeding kit from your pet store. You can feed fruit/vegetable eating birds jarred baby food (get organic, no sugars added). Or birds that eat worms or insects can eat beef or chicken jarred baby food (organic, nothing added). Put the bird in a cage and keep it outside. It needs to stay acclimated to outdoor temps. Birds mature enough to fly on their own in just a few weeks.
