My spider plant has become brown along where the white stripes are - what shall I do?

I take my spider plant into the kitchen and put it in the sink, then turn on a gentle spray and let it run for a few minutes. Water will run through the soil and out the bottom of the plant. This cleans the soil of mineral deposits. My plant likes a lot of sun, water and I fertilize it about every 6 weeks.
    Hope this will help.
PS: I suggest you cut off the leaves that are unsightly.
water it with a good dose of sun while doing this sing plants love to be sung too.
