See this link & that link for all your starter questions about Windows email client.
First, you need to have an email address & password (whether one provided to you by your internet provider, or one you signed up for on google) to set up the Windows mail client. You can have your internet provider help you set your email step by step.
If you have an address and want to set up the client yourself, you'll also need to know the type of server your service uses for sending and receiving mail. Go to Start > All Programs > Windows Mail. A program window will appear. If it doesn't prompt you to begin setup, go to Tools on the menu bar > Accounts, and follow the instructions.
