    Is it unsafe to give dog a heartworm pill if you are not sure they have them?

    I gave my dog a heartworm pill and she has been very sick all night

      Before you give any kind of medication you need to speak to your vet and you need to take your dog to the vet asap the dog could have internal bleeding please take your dog to the vet now

          My understanding is that the pills are to be given once a month on the same date. If a dose is missed I am NOT to give the pill until blood work has been done by the vet to determine if the dog has heart worms. If a dog has heart worms and the pill is given it will make the dog very sick and probably will die.

            No, I give my dog heartworm pills all the time.Just so he don't get heartworms and my dog is healthy.

              Probably not but if you are talking about your dog you should go see the vet and ask if he or she does and see.
