It was more of a stake. It didn't have a crosspiece or second beam running across. It is also called a tree, as in, "Were you there when they nailed Him to a tree?"

also if you really think about it even if you don't have any bible knowledge his feet was nailed one on top of another and his arme's was nailed out to the side so that makes a cross. god bless you rhonda think about it.

jesus was put to death on a cross the cross was carried to the spot by him on his back please read your bible and you will get all the answers you need may god bless you and help you understand yours Sincerly Rhonda.

Strangely, many here did read their bibles and came up with a different answer. The cross was an image of false worsip long before the time of Christ.

Because of its firmness and strength it was selected as the timber for the cross, but to be put to such a cruel use greatly distressed the tree. Sensing this, the crucified Jesus in his gentle pity for the sorrow and suffering of all said to it: "Because of your sorrow and pity for My sufferings, never again will the dogwood tree grow large enough ...The tree was the Dogwood Tree

Wher did you get this from?

I think the person that wrote this question needs to read The English Standard Version King James Edition of the Bible. Jesus was born of a virgin '' Mary'' suffered under Pontius Pilate was crucified died sent to Hell and on the third day he arose from the dead and sits on the right hand of God the Father. Jesus was tortured Caring his cross It was a cross. His hands were nailed his two feet were also nailed to the cross . If you have a true love of Jesus you will not false testify. Read your Ten Commandants.

PS. King Herrod was afraid of loosing his kingdom and asked Jesus ...Are you the King of the Jews. Jesus answered "You Have said so . Then after that Jesus stood mute for he knew that He will soon be crucified to die for our sins on the CROSS> NOT a stake.

Sorry Rohnda you are wrong, Jesus was hung on a single stake

Cross or stake? It is erelevant. The fact that God became man and walked among us just so he could die a sinless death, become a sacrificial lamb, a substitute for all who will believe in Jesus is what is important.

Does it really matter whether it was a cross or a stake? Sometime terms are used interchangeably. A cross could still be referred to as a tree because it was wood which at some time was a tree. Just be glad he was hung there for all of our sins.

Many prominent churches claiming to be Christian are using a cross as a symbol of idolatry. That is why it is important.
