    Just remember that iris bulbs do not need to be buried under the dirt, they like to sit close to the top (no more than an inch down at most, preferably less). After a few years go by you will notice that they may be totally on top of the soil with their roots the only part under the ground. Just add a little soil to the tops and they'll do fine.

    You will also need to divide the bulbs every couple of years and cut off any parts that have rotted or look diseased.
