Yes, I am on SSDI for now going on 6 years. I used to work for one of the biggest Pharmaceutical Co. in the world for 9+ years, after I graduated from college. Then one day while four wheeling I broke my back and pushed 2 disc in to my spinal cord. To make it short, I lost everything. I can not be on SSDI anymore. I get 1k a month! I was making over 80k a year. I could not walk or even move my legs for over a year. Then one day I noticed a small twinge in my right quad. I started going back to a physical therapist and after 1.5 years of intense rehab I could walk with only these ankle braces that pick up my foot when I walk b/c that is all I can not flex, it is called drop foot. I got a different pharma job for 9 months but, I had to carry too much and walk a lot every day and travel over a huge area in west Texas and New Mexico which my back could not take after having 4 spinal surgeries. I have decide to get my teaching certificate and teach the subject I graduated in, Biology in HS. There's a high demand in TX and even though I will never make as much money, $50k a year for a science teacher is better than $1k a month as a bum. I hope it all works out b/c when I was sitting on the better and could not move any muscles in my leg, I was about to blow my brains out, seriously.

Bless your heart for your struggles and overcoming your disability...you have strong character...you must be German! lol

I'm disabled also. On SSDI for about 8 years now. I have signigficant spinal problems, degeneration, stenosis, sciatica, herniated discs, the works! Now have extensive non-melanoma skin cancers everywhere on the old body, Surgery after surgery. Bummer. But so far no malignancies that are fatal. Bless your heart Rushie54 for taking care of those soldiers and papa peg, you keep on keeping on!! My thoughts are with you!

Thanks for the thumbs up. Nobody really can understand what it's like to have to be on disability but someone who has similar problems. It is nice to be able to "vent".

Het Rushie54, good motivation for all that have became disabled. My story below is no different. You deserve a thumbs up you even motivated me. Thanks

Born in Newport News VA.in 1945. At the age of 5, my parents enrolled me in an experimental medical program at Langley AFB to "make me more intelligent". My life has been a disaster of oddities, confusion and mental problems that has taken years to learn to cope with and pounds of pills every year to allow me to remain out of institutions. Those who were responsible for my suffering are all dead now and I am so happy they are dead. I am not afraid of them any more.

Wow, some story! I just read a report concerning "medical experimentations", it made me queasy...we are not guinea pigs..such shenanigans should never have happened...disgusting. I too am happy your perpetrators are dead too. (:

I have epilepsy.. but I am not diabled... Funny though, I cant hold a full time job either. Rather be broke and healthy than doing a half assed job full time.

i had a stroke when i was 42, was totally paralyzed on my left side. never got full use back.

Thank you for all your kindness. It made my day.And I hope you all have a great day to.And that healing will come to you.GOD BLESS DON

YEP been disabled 43 years.Broke my back at 14 paralyzed from waist down.

I was an army brat.My grandfather my dad a couple uncles. They were lifers and loved the armed forces.I wanted to go and join but got hurt a year to early.

After reading everyone's stories, I am proud to be a contributor to this website and extremely proud to be amongst a group of such strong and vital people. Bravo to all of you.

I've had back problems all my life and 4 major surgeries but not disabled. No kids so I don't qualify for any "programs" either. I can't find a full time job. Most of the time, I have an open mind. But very opinionated other times!!

Hey there RED RAIDER. Nice to hear you doing well in life after all that. Keep up the attitude. Do you make it to any tech games?
