      When you say nc, you do mean North Carolina ? I live near N.C. and black snakes don't eat the chickens, but they will certainly EAT THEIR EGGS.

          Hey pythonlover, my wife and I were just talking and she said like I did that the black snake would eat the eggs and probably the baby chicks, but we had never heard of them eating the grown chicken, but I'm sure that they probably could, I just had not heard of it. No big deal, we're not going to lose friendship over something like that.

          Are we talking about a chicken snake or a black racer, I know they have Black Racers in FL.
