To my limited knowledge the CO2 oxygen doesn`t change. If it did why the furor about the Sth American forrests being the lungs of the world?

I read once that older trees are less efficient.

I'm not finding that mature trees stop absorbing CO2, just that when the go dormant and the leaves drop they do. I am surprised that a farmer would suggest cutting a tree down for that reason and not something like the tree is decayed and dead. Farmers usually tend to want to keep things alive and growing no matter what.
