      From before the days that they stayed open 24/7. buildings are always built with locks on the doors, it could be that another business was in that building before them and they weren't open 24/7.

      Also, what happens if a hurricane, tornado or flood should shut down the entire town. Can't just walk off and leave the door open!

            People steal, especially at night. The most dangerous job in this country is a cashier in a 7-11, and you thought is was a cop job.
