A wiseguy is someone or a made guy is always someone who is connected to the mafia. A wise man goes beyond someone who is knowledgeable. When people talk about a wise man they are talking about someone who has more then a passing knowledge of things. Someone who is wise is a person who that people come to find the answers to the deeper questions in life, the kind of information you cannot find in an encyclopedia. It would not matter how many degrees even if he or her had a PHD it would mean nothing. You could bump into this fellow in the street and you would not recognize him. A wise man is someone whose understanding of how things work and how people work would be just the begining to explain what a wise man is.
