Wouldn't it be better if he got his American citizenship first and then renounce the Mexican one?

If you are an American citizen and do not plan to go back to Mexico, why would you want to renounce our citizenship?  I could see if you've suffered political persecution or something of that nature.

If you merely dislike the country, don't renounce, just denounce.
