    Who covers first base if the first baseman goes short for a ball?

    I have a girls softball team. If my first baseman plays short and goes for a ball, who covers 1st base? Pitcher or 2nd baseman

      Typically, both the pitcher and the 1st baseman will be going for the ball, therefore the second baseman is responsible to cover 1st base.
