A person can become a U.S. citizen in one of four ways. First, by being born in the United States or one of its territories. Second, if you were born to parents who are U.S. citizens, then you may be a U.S. citizen yourself. This process is called "acquisition" of citizenship. Third, you can be a citizen through the naturalization process, which generally involves applying for, and passing, a citizenship test. Lastly, you may be a citizen if one or both of your parents have been naturalized. This is called "derivation" of citizenship.

I was born in Germany and am still a German citizen today many years latter (don't ask It's a long story). My brother was born in India he was a citizen of India until he became Naturalized many years ago. So unless something has changed that I'm not aware of, You are a citizen of whatever country you were born in.

Many countries allow dual citizenship. If you're born to parents of one country while they are living or visiting in another country you may be citizen of both.
You might read the Constitution for the correct answer. The Constitution was amended after the civil war to make the children of slaves "persons" rather than there previous designation as "Chattel" and thus citizen of the US by birth.
Over time that cam to mean all children born in the US, although that was not the original intention of the amendment
