Anemia is caused by a decrease if red blood cells in the body. Your hemoglobin, which is a component of blood, carries oxygen to all of the tissues in your body. When you lose a lot of blood, that means you have fewer red blood cells, and therefore, you become anemic. This can cause weakness and fatigue.
