        I assume you are talking about phone calls... The price is high because people are paying it, the Canadian taxes are very high, or both. The only thing you can directly control is who you sign up with. I assume competition in long-distance services is legal there, so if you don't like it, get some quotes from other providers. Prices vary dramatically.
