JESUS SAID THAT THERE WILL NOT BE ANY SIGN GIVEN TO THIS GENERATION, BUT THE SIGN OF THE PROPHET JONAH. FOR AS JONAH WAS IN THE FISH FOR THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS SO THIS WILL BE THE LENGTH OF TIME THAT JESUS WILL REMAIN IN THE TOMB. SO IF HE DIED ON FRIDAY IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM TO BE RISEN ON SUNDAY MORNING. THE BIBLE STATES THAT HE ROSE ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK AND THAT'S SUNDAY. THE IDEA THAT HE DIED ON A FRIDAY, THAT IS CELEBRATED AS GOOD FRIDAY IS FALSE. THE MORE ACCURATE DAY WOULD BE THURSDAY AFTERNOON. BECAUSE GENISES TAUGHT THAT THE VENING AND THE MORNING MAKE ONE DAY. THIS MEANT A 12 HOUR DAY, THEN JESUS SAID ARE THERE NOT 12 HOURS IN THE DAY, IF ANY MAN WALK IN THE NIGHT HE STUMBLETH. THIS MEANS A COMPLETE DAY AND NIGHT IS 24 HOURS. SO THE TURTH IS THAT JESUS DIED ON A HIGH SABBATH, THIS WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE SATURDAY SABBATH AND MUST HAVE COME FROM THE CROSS BEFORE THE BEGINNING OF THE SABBATH WHICH IS A FRIDAY SABBATH AND NOT A SATURDAY SABBATH. IN CONCLUSION IT CAN BE CLEARLY SEEN THAT JESUS DIED ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND ROSE ON SUNDAY MORNING.
Apparently recent research has shown that thee were two calendars in use at the time, hence the confusion.
Stones: Excellent response. Obviously most people haven't done the math. I looked at the high Sabbath as well as the possibility. The Bible says Jesus was crucified on the Sabbath preparation day, which would make a person think it was on a Friday. The only thing that held me back from the High Sabbath is that there would have been the Passover, the High Sabbath and the regular Saturday Sabbath all within a few days. The only other possibility is that they meant Monday as the first day of the week, and therefore Jesus was buried on a Friday, and was raised from the dead on a Monday.
Befor Jesus died he said his spirit would rise again in 3 days. Thats the day we celebrate as Easter Sunday. So if he came back on sunday the 3rd day. That would make saturday the 2nd day and frieday the 1st day. I think frieday would be the right answer !
