OK people listen up, this is not what I would do but rather what my father used to do! Shoot 'em.
There is repellent sold commercially that will rid you of this furry little guy, hopefully before he makes babies and moves Mom and the kids in.

they don't die, they multiply. lol
I would try moth balls first. Humane traps work and you don’t have to kill it. If it just moved in recently and has not gotten to full size the two methods above should work well. If it is full size and came in last year, it may have had pups over the winter and will be bringing the 8 to 12 of them out to eat everything in the yard early in the morning preferable. Piping engine exhaust (lawnmower or car) down the hole may be effective. Also burning charcoal down the hole. Firecrackers, water and digging them out is seldom effective. I bounty hunted ground hogs on Virginia farm land when I was a kid. Accurate shooting over 500 yards is quite impersonal and the meat went to feed families in the area who loved to eat these critters. A ground hog can destroy an acre of soybeans sprouting in the spring in less than a week. I made enough money to pay for all my guns, ammo and a truck before I got out of high school.
