    what is the best height for garden raised beds?

    Whatever height is good for you. If you are able to bend over you can make them just the depth the dirt needs to be to hold a plant up, 12 inches deep. Depends on how much dirt you want to put in them, it's a lot of work. If you can't bend over and need to stand while gardening, you put the beds up on legs to the proper height. That will also mean putting a bottom on the garden too, and having someone put all the dirt in the box up to the same 12 inch depth.
