Can heartburn cause your mouth to feel like it is on fire? Your tongue burns also? This is a bad case and, I think, all coming from the Fish Oil I took last night for the first and last time. PLEASE HELP ANYBODY! I WILL HAVE TO CALL THE FIRE DEP'T TO PUT OUT THE FIRE IN ME.

Fish oil contains omega-3 fatty acids and has been hailed as a natural way to manage heart disease, depression, and countless other health conditions. However, it can also cause heartburn.http://health.msn.com/health-topics/digestive-health/surprising-heartburn-triggers

I took two fish oil capsules with my dinner last night and I have been suffering with heartburn ever since. I even took a tsp of white vinegar and nothing is working. No more fish oil for me, I would rather eat fish 5 nights a week than suffer with this horrible feeling. I do not know what else to take to relieve this. I took Myelanta last night and Zantac today along with Prilosac before breakfast and nothing has worked. Any more suggestions? Thank you for your answer. Lilyan

White vinegar will not help. You need apple cider vinegar. Take a shot glass full. Go to walmart when you can, get the cheap brand of antacid called Equate Acid Reducer, get the one with Ranitidine in it. Take 2 of the pills.

Some people get relief by drinking cold water. I'm going to google and see if there are other immediate help tips. Be back in a minute.
    Baking Soda

Among its many uses, baking soda is also known to reduce stomach acids. It is not advisable to swallow baking soda alone. Instead, mix one tablespoon of baking soda into an eight-ounce glass of water. After mixing well, drink or sip on the mixture. Heartburn pain is usually relieved almost immediately. Make sure not to use baking soda as a heartburn remedy in excess. Drink one glass every 24 hours. Since baking soda contains sodium, it is advisable to drink the mixture sparingly.

Some other things to try, read here: http://www.myhomeremedies.com/static/heartburn.html

Good luck! I hope you find something that helps!

Thank you, Colleen, I am going to try the baking soda now and then try to go to sleep, I am exhausted from this. Nothing is making me comfortable. I will try the remedy now and thanks again.

Oh and remember if you ever run into this again...apple cider vinegar, not white vinegar.

I think it's the long term use that's not good. It'll be OK to get her through the night 'til she can get some proper medication ;)

Baking soda is good. I use it and it works. Too much oil is not good and does cause heart-burn. I do not take fish oil in any shape or form.
I grind 1/2 kg of linseed, flax in the US, with 1kg almonds and 500grms sesame seeds. I mix them together and put 1 tblspn on my fruit in the morning, yum. It also can be added to bread, topping for ice-cream or yoghurt. The mixture should be kept in the fridge to keep it fresh. The linseed does the same job as fish oil.
