    Decimal coinage was introduced in UK in 1971, so this coin would be worth precisely 1P; that is almost nothing.
    I would guess one penny the English have had the new decimal currency for some time but still call them pounds, shillings and pence but changed the "value" A pound was 20 shillings now 10 shillings. A shilling was twelve pennies now ten pennies.

    This means that whilst the name has not changed they have in fact gone to decimal (10) value.

    Personaly I would have preferred this to have happened in Australia also instead of dollars and cents. Pure nostalgia on my part.
    I'm sorry. We do not value coins here. Try a coin dealer. Unless there's something unique about it, I doubt it will be worth much more than it's face value since it's only an '88.
