Rwald360 is wrong when he says you have to file for divorce in the county you were married in, at least that's so in California and Texas. You have to file in the county you live in at the time you do the divorce papers, provided you have met the residency requirements, i.e., lived there long enough, etc. All county records are open to the public, so if you will contact the County Clerk's office at the county where he lived, they will have all the records, including if and when he finalized the divorce.
