I have lived in France for 15 years and am still not fluent in French. My dear wife is French so she does most of the talking which I suppose is normal in any language.
If you want to learn French well, you need to spend time in France during your childhood.
If you move to France when an adult, it is very difficult especially coping with French bureaucracy.

My feeling on learning french,which I am for any anglais it very hard for them to learn.Also think that french speaking is not as easy as you think,you almost haft to be born with it, like your DNA. You can;t duplicate it.sorry but it's just not the same.aurevoir a bientau.I did not learn how to write in french,and neither is my anglais to good,but I can speak well in french.vou
