      Just run your baby blues around the car frame adjacent to the open door. If you have tried and can`t find sorry no can help.
      I know you are a Aussie so please don`t take offence at the less intellegent on here.

        Go the Maroons!!! OK.& yep I have run my baby blues around the frame & it is so well hidden It evades me completely.I did tried the local dealership & the guy on the parts counter couldn't (or wouln't) help & of course the mechanics were all far too busy.I could of course have bought the full genuine workshop manual from them (for about $150) & it might have that detail.

        Ignore that superior advice. Just open the tailgate and manually close the latch with a spoon/screw driver etc. The light switch is in the latch mechanism. Then you can leave the tail gate open without flattening the battery.
        Activate the handle, inside handle is easy, to release the latch before you close the tailgate.
