It's probably Morton's Neuroma, caused by wearing tight shoes. A nerve under the toes becomes irritated and enlarged. There is a surgery that is supposed to correct the problem, but causes other problems. Best thing is to wear comfortable shoes with a Metatarsal Arch. Haflinger's Earth Shoes and Birkenstocks have the proper arch support, and I'm finding that some Keen's work well too. Good Luck with your problem, as I know how painful it can be!
