If your using Windows XP, you can try this. I don't know what OS you have so I'm not sure it will work for you or not.
Try going to control panel and changing it. Start, control panel, internet options, then under the programs tab look for email, put in the email client you want to use. Click apply then ok. See if that works. You might have to restart.
