You can probably research it more specifically with a steel distributor, but I believe it is a steel with chromium in it as an alloy to inhibit rust or oxidation. There are more grades of steel out there than the average person can imagine. But, if you are really curious, you can take a fresh or clean grinding wheel on a small hand grinder and lightly touch it against a piece of it...if the sparks are more orange in color, as opposed to the yellowish color you'd get from iron content...it's what I said it is. I use to remember all this stuff, but my hunger for knowledge in that area has diminished over the years.
