    American Ostrich is called Rhea. The reason for that name is unknown but it was given in 1752 by Paul M?hring and was adopted as the English common name.
    I call an Ostrich in America 'lost'.. I would ask that you Aussies come take him home where he belongs... Just don't mess with our extinct "red tree frog'.. You can end up in prison for stepping on one of those. And our whales, don't touch 'em... :)

    Ostriches do not originate from Oz, possibly you are thinking of the emu or cassowary.
