I was divorced and had taken my daughter and a friend for a short holiday. We stayed in a rented cottage near the sea. I awoke one morning to find a note slipped under my door. It was from my little girl telling me that she had just got her period (first) during the night and was embarrassed and didn't know what to do. I keep that note even now, in my wallet. The day my little girl grew up.

(I did the Best Dad in the World trick and fixed it all up satisfactorily.)
