I have a friend who is a cancer survivor who finished chemotherapy, radiation, and avastin in 2009. She is currently on tamoxifin. Is tamoxifin considered "cancer treatment" or can she consider herself 2 years closer to the 5 years required to not have pre-existing status?

TAMOXIFEN (ta MOX i fen) blocks the effects of estrogen. It is commonly used to treat breast cancer. It is also used to decrease the chance of breast cancer coming back in women who have received treatment for the disease.

I would say yes, she is still receiving cancer treatments. Only a health insurance provider could tell you for sure.
Your question is multi- tiered . I suggest that you break it down. I do know, however that when I worked as a nurse, Tomoxifen was given to women that had a H/O breast cancer , to prevent breast cancer from returning. I think my step-daughter takes it b/c she had breast cancer before and beat it:-)
