    Creation of Man

The first chapter of Genesis reveals that man was specially created by God in His very own image and likeness:

"Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness... So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them" (Genesis 1:26-27).
Man was shaped in the image of God, but he was not composed of the same substance as God. God is spirit; God is immortal; He possesses self-inherent eternal life. Man, on the other hand, was formed from the elements of the earth as an inert, physical corpse of organic matter lying on the ground - until God breathed into him the breath of life. At that point man became a "living soul" (Genesis 2:27).

The idea that death is merely a separation of a conscious, immortal soul from the body came not from the Bible but from Greek philosophy. Notice what Plato wrote in Phaedo:

"The soul whose inseparable attitude is life will never admit of life's opposite, death. Thus the soul is shown to be immortal, and since immortal, indestructible... we believe there is such a thing as death? To be sure. And is this anything but the separation of the soul and body?...being dead is the attainment of this separation when the soul exists in herself and separate from the body, and the body is parted from the soul. That is death... death is merely the separation of the soul and body".

    Eternal Life Is God's Gift

The Greek concept of the immortal soul assumes that individuals already possess eternal life - that the only question is where this eternal life is spent after death. In stark contrast, many Bible passages portray immortality strictly as a gift to be given by God. Paul refers directly to the fact that God alone has immortality (1Timothy 6:16). In a well-known statement to the Romans, Paul insists that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. In other words, the normal consequences of sin is death; but immortality, the opposite of death, is something that man does not have of and by himself; it comes only as a gift from God (Romans 6:23).

The important fact is that, although man does not possess an immortal soul, he can receive eternal life through accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Then he enters the heavenly kingdom of God and receives the promise of eternal life - which will be given when Jesus returns to this earth as King, of kings and Lord of lords.

In 1 Timothy 6:16, Paul is contrasting immortality to what others look at as life. In other words, there isn't (eternal) life in riches and idols, but only in Jesus. Everyone is immortal, some to eternal life and some to eternal death. Or, those in Christ will be in a place where there is eternal life, and those without Christ will be in a place where there isn't life, only eternal destruction. We all choose are eternity either with God, or without, as our own god in self destruction.
My best way to explain this ,is not by reading bit&there,JESUS said when you died,He compared it like a sleep for a wile, until

Well that seems to be the only decent comment here so far facebook. Death is like going for a long long sleep, except that some people will never wake up from that sleep. When the man Lazarus died Jesus told his disciples he was sleeping. Mary confirmed he knew he would get a resurrection on the last day, but then Jesus after praying to his Father called Lazarus from the tomb that he had been in for four days.

Ok, Well the answer is to be found in the bible book of Ezekiel chapter 18 v 4 regardless of which bible translation you care use.

4 Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.

So now you know what the Almighty has to say on the subject. This is the very reason why we all die no matter who we are from e greatest to the least of us.

The apostle Paul picks up the theme in Romans 5 v 12

(Romans 5:12) 12 That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned—.

However another man made it possible for for sinful men to approach God and benefit from a resurrection

Now if you had an immortal soul you would not need a resurrection would you?

But now you see that for thousands of years men have been tricked into believing that somehow they would survive into an after life that did not depend on Almighty God.

Now the implications of this are earth shattering, but I shall leave you for a while to express your own views.

    Kind regards

OK I am still asking the same question respectfully?
Does man or do humans have an immortal soul.
Nobody has given me an conclusive answer so far!
And giving me a load of abuse only proves you do not know the answer.

So I continue to ask 'Where in the bible does it say that man has an immortal soul?

Surely among all you professing Christians there must be one of you that can give me an honest educated answer?

lmao...I'll find another spot to give it Tami but for that, you need a TU!
I gave you one bible answer as a comment to your answer. Thanks for the down vote. It just, once again, proves your bible ignorance. Quit reading the propaganda the Watchtower puts out in their comic books, and read the bible instead.

I do not see your answer anywhere. Just what was it?
As for the Wt. Soc I only wish I was half as skilled as they are without their fearful responsibility.

    Please think on Christs words:
'In as much as you do it to the least of these my brothers you did it to me 25:31-46

Look down to my next answer, and the last comment for the "one" bible verse you requested.
I am always amazed how anyone can get sucked into the false doctrines from the WT and other cults, when all they have to do is even a simple bible study on their own to find out what they are teaching is obviously wrong.
When you can figure out the difference between the spiritual realm and the physical realm, you will perhaps learn what an immortal soul is. Keep studying, hopefully you will eventually get it right.

Show me a single scripture that says man has an immortal soul? over the last half century I have interview hundeds of priests and ministers often is there own vestries. I have yet to find one that understood bible doctine

Well the answer is to be found in the bible book of Ezekiel chapter 18 v 4 regardless of which bible translation you care use.

    Then again

(Matthew 10:28) 28 And do not become fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be in fear of him that can destroy both soul and body in Ge‧hen′na.

Since you only asked for a single verse, here you go:

    Daniel 12:2
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to EVERLASTING LIFE, and some to shame and EVERLASTING CONTEMPT. (emphasis added just in case you overlooked it.)
Looks like you are looking to GIVE answers more than to GET them!

    Fair comment!
Perhaps you would like to give your own thoughts?
Please do not be shy. I used to get it wrong many times before I got it right. Like everybody else I was brought up to belive in many false traditions that were harmful to me and others also.

"I used to get it wrong many times before I got it right. "

Who says you're right? You? Sounds like someone's ego is feeding his being more than the words of God are.
    bestway

I hate to worry you Colleen but you are still getting it very wrong.
"Now the implications of this are earth shattering"

Such drama! LOL. Sorry, nothing earth shattering about any of what you wrote/quoted.

The body dies. Soul lives on. Soul is immortal. That's more earth shattering to someone who believes "The soul that is sinning—it itself will die."

That last line....I highly doubt Jesus or God (not sure which Almighty was suppose to have said it) ever said. Sounds like something a controlling religious leader of old would have made up to scare the flock.

Well Colleen You have already admitted you are not a Christian and that you have an anti-Christian life style. I think that is very sad because in other ways you seem to be talented woman. But sadly whatever talent you may have in due time will be lost forever.
Now if you took the trouble to look up ths passage in which ever copy of the bible you have you would see who is addressing the nations and peoples. It is not difficult.

Is it hard to live in such a small world bestway? I imagine it must get a bit stuffy and dull when your brain can't grow in such a tight space. I really don't need to figure out who said those words. I know it was not God. Nothing is lost forever bestway. Everything that you are, stays with you even after death until you sort through it and keep the good and pay back for the bad. I'm sorry you do not feel or understand God's true love. I hope someday you feel His love but that probably won't come until after you die and you finally realize just how much you let pride and ego take you over and push him out. God will not give up on you though. Even though you've chosen to follow a path away from him, he will wait patiently until you realize your going the wrong way and turn around. God loves, that's all He can do :)

You know, when ever you people push your book on me, all I can hear is, "Come to the dark side, we have cookies and koolaid"....Uh, no thanks. I prefer the light and wholesome food for my Soul.

immortal soul yes, immortal regrets yes , immortal pain no...

Just imagine! When Jesus raises all the dead, they'll be skeletons in every corner of the world. At least we won't have to worry about growing food.
    bestway

Clearly you are not a Christian then. No self respecting Christian would ever mock Christs God given power to resurrect the dead.

No, I am not! It's the bible-bashers who turn people away.
Dualism is drawing to a close. Education enables more and more people to read and understand what they are reading. Dualism placed a whip in the hands of priests and a book in the other. The whip of hellish furry lashing out its scalding touch upon the unrighteous to intimidate the unbeliever and doubter. Strange as it may seem, Priests often used drugs as an illuminator of impressional minds. Having no evidence for a mythic claim then none would believe. Thus magic and potions were commonly used.

Ok Robertgist I have grand chilren that are older and wiser that you are. If you had read me correctly you would understand that I am very anti worldly religion
The human race has been dominated by false religions thought for milleniums. But most people and particularly those on this site are s full of their own ideas and the rubbish they were taught as children that they cannot tell the difference between true and false religion. At the moment you are way off topic. The topic is does man have an immortal soul, and what does the bible say on this subject? True Christians belive that etting this right is a matter of life and death.
    robertgrist

"Does man have an immortal soul?” If I am restricted to respond to this via the Bible, then depending on where you are reading, and what version you are reading the answer remains ambiguous. You don’t seem interested in personal opinion or historical facts outside the pages of your cherished book. May I suggest you apply your skills in this among those who are eager to delve into chapter and verse to validate their claim and leave the demonic hellish creatures you find here to scratch their pustule skin and howl in the night at their mortality.
As bruised and battered as it may be ... my soul immortal.

I read the answers and commends; and see that no one can show a Bible-text about immortal soul. Why  ?

Ha, here is another one of a kind!.......forgive him my Lord....in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen!

Haven't done any research have you? No wonder you keep getting it wrong.

What research and why should I? Did I do or say something wrong??
