      As far as I know you have to refinish the wood.

        As Leeroy said you should be sanding this down if it is polished wood there are chemicals out there and it was highly polished wood it would dry out eventuly there is another way is that if the wood is bear and had no polish on it what so ever you could try wetting all over I have done this and it did work but is a risk and this was on pine good luck

          try rubbing ashes in to the spot not a cure but it does help alot i have used ciggarete ashes with good results
