The hybrid battery in the Prius has a warranty for 8 years / 100,000 miles, and if you bought and registered the car in CA, NY, NJ, MA, CT, RI, PA or ME (the states with California-standard emissions laws), the warranty is automatically extended to 10 years / 150,000 miles.

That means if the battery fails during the warranty, the replacement is FREE. And in-warranty failures of the battery is virtually unheard-of. There have been plenty of Priuses used as Taxi cabs in cities like Vancouver and New York where they exceeded 200,000 miles with ZERO battery issues.

The battery pack and hybrid system requires NO maintenance until 100,000 miles, when an inverter coolant check (and refill if necessary) is recommended.

And there is a telephone number on the Prius battery pack for you to call to claim a $200 bounty to return that battery for recycling when you junk the car at the end of its service life.

I guess you can expect that since your car is at 120,000 miles, your batteries MAY begin to fail soon.
