Give him a night he will always remember, do all of his favorite things and eat all of his favorite foods. Do something he has always wanted to do, but has never done. Like bungee jumping or something.

Whatever you can afford...your love being the most important should that be all that you are able to afford...even a thoughtfully made homemade card will often do the trick and a nice homecooked meal of something that he will truly enjoy of his tastes and if you are able to do that.

I would say, if you know your boyfriend well, then you know what is it that he really, really, really like best and then you go for it or just make him his favorite dish, watch someTV with him (sports ha-ha) and then ........

My preference is cash over any other purchased gift and something that the gift giver made themselves with loving care over any amount of cash.
