    God is a perennial
I'm not sure, last year I took off a side shoot and planted it in a pot. It formed roots and it spent the winter in my kitchen. I planted it out two weeks ago and have already had two ripe tomatoes off it. The variety is Montfavet (f1).
Annuals, they only last one year and then the frost kills them. Sometimes tomatoes will fall on the ground and the seeds will sprout the next year - we call those plants "volunteers" and they don't always grow very well or bear fruit. You can transplant them and give them fertilizer and hope for the best.
    Annuals, unfortunately.
