According to the Book of Daniel, Daniel served under the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar from 597 to about 562 BCE, then under Belshazzar. The book credits Darius the Mede with conquering Babylon, and Darius was king of Persia from 522 to 486 BCE. Daniel served Darius with distinction until his death and then served Cyrus, who was actually king of Persia from about 560 to 530 BCE. Thus he served under four kings in the Book of Daniel.
