what consumer protection is there in ontario

i bought the wrong size waist belt in a store that was sized 34/36. I needed a size 36/38 was the store no belts what so ever in the store. I asked for my money back because they could not provide. They pulled up a small sign they had off to the far side of the counter that stated NO REFUNDS EXCHANGE ONLY. Can they legally do that?

I'm not sure what the policies are in Ontario, but I think you can get your answer at this site it's the Ministry of consumer Services. Also the least you can do is file a complaint. I hope that this helps: http://www.sse.gov.on.ca/mcs/en/Pages/default.aspx
