Did your favorite activity as a child continue to interest you in adult life?

Some folk evolve their thinking as a child into a carrier or life style. Playing with make-up and later joining the screen actors guild? Fishing and becoming catch and release preacher? Playing in the mud and later became a potter. Time to turn the clockworks of your life back and see what influenced you.

Please tell me why your teeth are yellow?
    robertgrist

I have an orange peal in my mouth with lines drawn on it to look like teeth.
    robertgrist

I do have teeth but I like the comedy of it , perhaps I could do other patterns and colors respecting the season. I think that would be fun. Then too there is the 4th of July coming up.

I used to make most of my own toys so much so that after I was six I never got one.

I continue to design and even make myself some (kind of) toys - actual products - furniture - as part of my proffession and for my wife(! :)) as well as simple toys for my grand children...

    robertgrist

I like to make to make toys too. I made a flying disk from an old record album when I was a kid . My dad saw me playing with it and called Mr Frisby (his name) to come over and sold it to him that day. I got nothing for that too. But it was nice to see all the things like that come into the stores as new products.
Enjoyed riding my bike as a child and became a Harley-Davidson dealer.
    friendindeed

goldwing dealer would be better as you know...lol
    Headless Man

Probably would have made more ripping off all the dumb goldwing riders but Harleys were more fun......lol
I still enjoy my naps!!! And, two hour feedings!!!

So your passion is sharing with others. LoL

Sharing is one of my passions :-)
I always loved horses as a child. When i left school i joined the Household Cavalry Regiment (Blues & Royals) and done Royal mounted escorts & Changing of the Guard in London for 10 Years. Now a Farrier & still with horses putting their shoes on. All because of my childhood fasination with horses! Would not change a thing.
    PEOPLELOVER

Horses are one of the greatest creatures after dogs. To have a horse nuzzle you is something most people never get to enjoy. Love them.

Will be in London in October for a month you have any up close and personal contact at the Blues and Royals to pass on to me. I am a Aussie.
    Maz

When you go to London go to Whitehall, a walk up the Mall from Buckingham Palace and you will come to Horseguards Parade where the Changing of the Queens Lifeguard takes place every weekday. Wilst you are there please call into the Household Cavalry Museum. All of our history from 1661 to present day, with all uniforms etc.. are on display. The museum is run by members & ex members of the Regiment. It is a new Museum and backs on to the stables and you will see the lads going about their stable duties. You & ALL of the family really will enjoy! The main Barracks are in Knightsbridge but secuity is very tight & acsess will not be allowed, however it is worth a visit to see backed on to Hyde Park and the horses comming in & out of barracks being exercised in Hyde Park . It really is good. Keep in touch! Click on URL for more info. http://www.householdcavalrymuseum.co.uk/

For the most part yes, Art, Football, Music, Racing. That's funny, I never really though of it that way though...

I played cards and chess as a child, but don't really do that anymore so, maybe somethings stuck and others didn't.
Yes, I'd line up my dolls and pretend we were at a play or movie, still love doing that but without the dolls.
    mycatsmom

Bev, Do you now line up your kids,or your dogs or cats ?

Well sleeping certainly did, as well as a few others including; painting, music, and going to church. Most of the other things have fallen by the wayside.

You tube has good lessons ... if you need them. I did a Rose, a Lion, and a Tiger. The tiger looked all soft face like my grand daughter. The rose was a total mess. ... the lion wasn't bad. Try it, maybe?

You're a real artist. I am impressed. Really. It's an unusual piece. I'm trying to figure out if it has some meaning that I'm not quite getting. Do you sell the pieces. You could if you could make your name.
    Colleen

    Moderator
It's not that unusual. It' a picture of Melissa in a crouched position holding her guitar straight up with one hand and strumming it with the other. No, I do not sell my work. I'm not good enough for that.
    itsmee

Ohhh ...Of course, Etheridge! Send her a copy. At the very least, you'd get an autograph to frame and hang. I've got my art on all my walls. Love it! In the beginning, I gave four pieces away as gift and as it turned out I gave my best pieces away. Dang! They were highly decorated wooden teapots. (They wouldn't hold tea) Michael's used to sell them -- alas, no more.
I paint mirror frames, chairs for children to sit on, pen and ink for framing, big dotted acrylics, two Matisse-like framed pieces of a girl with a guitar and another girl holding the chord book for her. The other one is a girl wearing a bright colored skirt holding a gift.

I use to have all my art hanging but it got old after a while so it's all put away now. I'll leave the painting to you. I hate working with paints.
    itsmee

This might be the perfect time for you to start?
Maybe put Melissa on your wall?
I've been listening to her ALL day ~ it's been awhile.
    and ...

Nope. Mine was paper dolls and roller skating.

    mycatsmom

loved paper dolls, tea parties, ,and roller skating .

Very much. I always enjoyed drumming as a kid and still actively play/learn/perform. It's a HUGE part of life.

Well as achild I was a bit of a tom boy I was in a gang and we got up to all sorts but if it was raining I would go to my camp and paint never stayed in the house unless I was grounded and that was rare as I was only ever told once and you did do as your told or else!

I liked working with animals, and went to college for agriculture, had a career of teaching it for 35 yrs. of Animal Science.  Would love to own a gentleman's farm with some animals in my retirement.

I want to milk the cows?
    bustieone

We have a dairy herd at the school. It is a mixture of registered Holstein, Jersey, Ayrshire, Guernsey, Linebacker, and Brown Swiss. They unfortunately do not get milked by the students in class, as the time of milkings doesn't coincide with the school day.
    mycatsmom

bustie, Hope you went to Michigan State U. They have the finest agricultural program. I always wanted a farm too with animals on it. My mom used to say I should marry a farmer. Are you single ? Ha ha
    bustieone

No, I went to URI, and the state is not actually much of an agricultural state, it is very densely populated for such a small state. I went for Pre-Vet-Med and was led away from that with my lack of skill for organic chemistry! I actually got into education after graduation, through a job search with the local unemployment office. They said "do you think that you could teach high school"? My answer, I grew up in a large family, and can handle high schoolers. I hung with a group of 10 in college, 9 were studying to be ag teachers, 1 wasn't (me). Only one retired from it (me)!

I was always building something as a kid.We had a very large bamboo stand in our back paddock.Great for building cubby houses, forts etc.Soap box racers were another specialty of mine.I must have made 50 of them.

    mycatsmom

Tommy, sounds like an ideal situation for a boy.

Yes, robertgrist, but I am not saying what I was and am interested in.

Didn't anybody like to play school or house ? That's always a fave. And where are all the players of  Lincoln Logs, and Mr. Potato Head.? What about blocks and toy trains ?

When I was in kindergarten, we played "doctor and nurse", <removed by moderator>

    you're still young,praasna.

I loved doll houses. Every Christmas I got a new one cuz I could wear one out in a year. I had all kinds of houses - all kinds of dolls. I had tiny baby dolls who slept in cribs with tiny blankets and wee pillows. I played by the fireplace while the big people sat around and talked. Such peace and happiness there in the living room with the Ivy wallpaper.   I grew up, got married and had two children.   Surprise! : )    This memory is one of my first. I was very young - under four.

You are a beautiful Love too.
