If they were arrested they were booked and fingerprinted and photographed. You have to get a judge to look at all the information having a lawyer helps here. Facial recognition helps here the finger prints will absolve you also.It will take some work and police are sometimes thick headed and uninterested but you can do this if you work at it .Find the judge who heard this case and try to talk to him or her the more paper you have when you appear the better. Its public record so you can ask for the files at the court house .Cost you some money to copy each page maybe .50 cents . Just start at the begining and unravel this . Good Luck I know this sucks
