    Are there any melanistic mutant pheasants living in any of the RSPB reserves? I understand their ideal habitat would be grassland, riverside, woodland areas, eg, perhaps Lakenheath Fen, or Strumpshaw Fen.

    melanistic pheasants are a mutant of the common pheasants( you proberly already know that) any way they are much darker and they do live in dence wood land I live in Lancashire and have seen them on my walks over the moor they were nesting in large feilds but bloody idiot set the feilds a light not only have we lost those birds we have lost all the other birds that nest around them and we you too feed a pair where our horse was kept and we fed them for many years but since our horse is no longer there we havnt seen them cheers mel
