I have two large above ground containers. They are about two meters long and about sixty centimeters high. They have been filled with half (good) potting mix and half river sand mixed together. The river sand stops the potting mix from packing down. The containers are standing on small stones, for drainage. Also, I have added tiger worms. The worms are in two wide plumber's pipes with lids. I have drilled some holes around the sides so that the compost I add breaks down. I have also added pure sheep's manure and blood and bone to the mixed soil and sand. My vegetables love it.
