    How strong was the tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri?

    It's more than likely that the Joplin, MO tornado will be ranked either an EF-4 or EF-5 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale
    The Fujita scale measures the tornado based upon damage to structures & swath of destruction. Utter devastation to structures like hospitals, schools and steel beam construction, with cars as missiles, bark peeled off trees as is evident from photos of Joplin suggests an EF4-EF5. In the OKC/Moore tornado in 1999 which was a F5, even the grass was peeled off the earth.
