      Hypertension and high blood pressure are two terms that are almost used interchangeably.

      Some use hypertension when the blood pressure is very high - but there really is no difference in these words. Pay attention to the BP numbers - then call it what you like!

        I believe one hypertention is just the medical terminolgy and high blood pressure is just a laymans term that your doctor may use to explain to a patient not used to medical jargon. They are the same thing I worked in a hospital for years and had to take a medical terminology college course.
